Metasis IV Mokulito Print

Exclusive to Curious Egg.This exquisite hand printed artwork by artist Holly Drewett is one in a series of artworks made in response to landscape and sound. It has been made using the Japanese technique of Mokulito which uses lithography at its base. The image is, however, drawn onto plywood rather than the traditional stone used in lithography; this technique also allows carving into the wood to create marks.

โ€˜The editions are low due to the organic surface of the plate which means the image gradually begins to change as it is printed and the natural oils in the wood also become part of the drawing. I became fascinated with this changing image during the making of the work and the process became an integral part of the idea as something fluid and changing.โ€™ Holly Drewett
